Catalog Course Description
This vertical course platform bridges the gap between academic theory and professional practice across all undergraduate tiers in Electronics Engineering. By bringing Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors into a unified ecosystem, the course fosters vertical mentorship while addressing the specific developmental milestones of each academic year. The curriculum features thematic technical exposures by faculty members, insights into industry trends from sector representatives and alumni, and structural guidance on internship hunting and capstone project alignment. Because Sabancı University students have the freedom to choose their majors at the end of their freshman or sophomore years, EE 234 serves as a vital anchor to welcome new students into the EE community and clarify academic planning across the program's primary interest areas. For the students, the course directly bridges classroom theory with Sabancı's strict mandatory internship requirements and the rigorous, multi-disciplinary graduation project framework. Through high-impact interactions with Sabancı EE Alumni, local tech leaders and FENS-EE faculty, this seminar forms a cohesive ecosystem where juniors and seniors mentor sophomores, and industry partners scout upcoming talent for internship/job positions.
Learning Outcomes:
| 1. | Sophomores: Students map (identify) out their planned EE elective pool across the 4 major sub-disciplines based on the faculty showcases. |
|---|---|
| 2. | Sophomores: Formulate a cohesive academic plan/track aligned with personal career goals. |
| 3. | Sophomores: Engage with upperclassmen to understand the practical expectations of upper-level courses. |
| 4. | Juniors: Optimize professional portfolios, resumes, and interview skills targeting high-impact internship opportunities. |
| 5. | Juniors: Correlate academic coursework with industry requirements as articulated by external stakeholders. |
| 6. | Juniors: Initiate professional networking strategies with alumni and sector representatives. |
| 7. | Seniors: Evaluate diverse post-graduation pathways, including industrial career tracks and graduate research opportunities. |
| 8. | Seniors: Collaborate with external industry partners or multidisciplinary faculty on joint graduation projects. |
| 9. | Seniors: Synthesize technical and ethical engineering practices needed for the transition into professional engineering or corporate leadership. |
